15 Amazing Raksha Bandhan Celebration Ideas in 2020

   Hello Readers, Today I got some interesting ideas to make your Rakhi special and memorable this year. According to Hindu tradition, we follow some basic rituals on Raksha Bandhan. 

On this day we wear new clothes and observe the festival in the presence of our parents, elders, relatives, and grandparents. The ritual involves lighting a Diya or earthen lamp which represents the fire deity. On this occasion, the aarti is performed by the sisters for the well-being of their brothers. They also apply, "tilak" on the forehead of their brothers. Along with this, they offer a portion of sweet or dry fruits to their brother, and finally, the rakhi is tied around the wrist of their brother. 

It is now the turn of a brother to give special rakhi return gifts to their sisters. The gift could be in the form of money, a gift from an offline or online gifting store in the form of a rakhi special gift hamper, a dress, customized rakhi gifts, or any other such presents.

Well, Along with this ritual, I will be suggesting some new interesting and unique ideas which you can try this year to make your Rakhi day more special.

My first tip to all is to design a beautiful invitation card for your brothers who are far from you, be it your cousins or relatives. Its easy guys, we all use mobile with some free online invitation templates you can make easy and engaging cards. You can circulate it through social media like Facebook, Whatsapp, or Instagram.

2. Make Handmade Rakhi along with an explosion box

You can create handmade rakhi at home. For making rakhi you can watch videos on youtube there you can find some creative homemade rakhi designs. Along with this make an explosion box-like greeting card for your brother or sister with some chocolate and a message in it. you can also add some pics of childhood, funky, candid, fighting, and happy pictures in it.

The chocolate bouquet is another interesting way of gifting chocolates to your sister on this rakhi day.

3. Plan a Treasure Hunt for your sister/brother

This idea is valid for both. If you are a sister and you want to implement this idea for your brother on rakhi, then what you need to do is to collect some beautiful quotes, Shayari, Poem, wishes, or anything of your creativity you want to add for your brother. Collect them in such a manner that it portrays from childhood to this year all good and precious moments, Then put all your collected thoughts, messages, quotes, wishes on a paper or a colored sheet. Remember one thing with each letter of wishes you have to attach a clue to its next wish letter. Exclude the last message as you will be thanking your brother in the last letter. Along with this, you have to make a separate card which you will give to your brother as a return gift when you can your Rakhi present from your brother or after tying rakhi on your brother's wrist. the card should describe the game and a clue to his first letter destination.

For brothers planning this for their sister, it's very nice that you really thought to take such an effort for your cute loving sister. Brainstorm about good topics for play on rakhi. I have some topics for you like you can think of to depict something on the Origin of Raksha Bandhan festival, why we celebrate rakhi, or on some mythological facts of rakhi. Found this topic boring then, you can think of casting a play on some funky actions of your brother, moments that made you feel proud of being a brother or sister. This can motivate your young brother and sister. You can prepare a dance on your sister's favorite song. Songs that have sister lyrics or any funny songs on sisters. 

9. Organize a cooking context between you and your brother

Challenge your brother, force him to be your competitor, and have competition on making some delicious food, dessert, sweets, chocolate, shakes, etc. A sister should make a dish that is his brother's favorite and vice versa should be done by your brother. Don't forget to capture this moment, I'm sure you will be getting some candid and funny pictures which can boost your relationship as a brother and sister.

10. Plan some interesting and engaging games

I would suggest you some of my favorite games: Housie, Musical Chair, Damsharas( Antakshari).

I hope you all know this game, sisters don't forget if you win, you have the rights to ask for any gift or some exciting actions and work you would like your brother to do on your behalf which they would have not if you asked them to do it for you. Each game needs more than two people. Invite all family members for these exciting games.

11. Let's play quiz this rakhi and add some funny moments at our rakhi celebration

Play a buzzer quiz with your brother's sister and test whether you know your brother well, or he knows you well. Draft some tricky and exciting question about likes and dislike about your brother and sister and ask them interchangeably. Ask them to write their answer on a paper or writing pad and then ask them to show at the same time. The one who answers the maximum question right will be a winner and will get the best brother or sister tag. This could be more exciting when you put a picture with your sister or brother stating the best brother & sister.

12. Cut a Rakhi Party cake

I would suggest you make a homemade rakhi cake this year with a rakhi embedded on the top of the cake similar to the cherry on the cake. Let's make this year rakhi super cool, exciting, and fantastic.

13. Visit orphanage and ashram

This Rakhi, free up some time or celebrate this special day with some needy and disabled brother and sister, as all Indians are our brother and sister. It's our responsibility to help them in these difficult times. If you cannot visit then donate some clothes, rakhi, sweets, chocolate, and gifts to ashrams and orphanages. 

14. Plant a sapling

Make a pledge to plant one, sapling every year on Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of brother-sister love. I would recommend this idea to everyone as it will save our mother earth.

15. Remote(virtual) Rakhi

My last idea is for those sisters who have their brothers far from them, though you have sent your digital rakhi to your brothers, I would request you all to do a little more, call your brother on this day celebrates a virtual rakhi day. I feel and believe if you can do work from home then you can celebrate rakhi also at home remotely. But how can I do this?

Call your brother this year, Wish him happy Raksha Bandhan. Along with this make a video with all pics of previous years rakhi celebration with your brother. You can play games over zoom or video call with your cousins. Guide your brother to cook his favorite dish and enjoy it together. Spend time with your brother sharing old memories and stories that make the moment full of joy and happiness.
